What does pixel pitch mean?
Pixel pitch is the distance between the centres of two neighbouring LEDs, in millimetres. P3 means 3 mm apart, P10 means 10 mm. A smaller pitch packs in more pixels, so the picture stays sharp up close, and it costs more per square metre.
How close can people stand and still see a sharp picture?
A handy rule: the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is about the pitch in millimetres. A P3 screen looks sharp from about 3 m, a P10 from about 10 m, and both look their best from two to three times that distance. Roadside signs can use a larger pitch because they're read from further back.
What's the difference between indoor and outdoor LED?
Outdoor screens are sealed against rain and dust and run much brighter so they stay readable in full sun. Indoor screens are dimmer and usually have a finer pitch for close viewing. An indoor screen shouldn't be used outside.
Can an LED screen be seen in direct sunlight?
Yes, if it's an outdoor screen. Outdoor LED typically runs at 5,000 nits or more, against roughly 500 to 1,500 nits for indoor screens. Brightness can be turned down at night so the screen doesn't glare at drivers or neighbours, and councils often set night-time limits.
What size screen do I need?
Work back from the viewing distance and the space you have. Text should be readable from where most people will see it, so a sign read from across a car park or a road needs a bigger screen than one read at a shop counter. Call us with the spot and we'll suggest sizes.
How long does an LED screen last?
LEDs are typically rated for around 100,000 hours before they fade to half brightness. In practice, good ventilation and regular servicing matter more than the rating.
Do I need council approval?
In most cases, if it's on your land (not a council nature strip), you don't need council approval.
Can I place the LED VMS trailer anywhere?
As long as the land is nearly flat and there's access to power nearby, it should be fine.
Is the LED solar powered?
No, we don't use solar-powered LED trailers. If there's no power on site at all, we can connect you with one of our solar LED trailer partners.
Can I use my own ads?
Yes. We'll give you the screen resolution to design at.
Can you design ads for it?
Yes, we're happy to design ads for your LED screen.
How long is the warranty?
We offer a 5-year warranty on all our LED parts, as long as they are properly maintained and serviced annually.
