Who we are
This policy is from Australian Screens. It covers this website and how we handle personal information when you order, rent or get in touch. "We", "us" and "our" mean Australian Screens.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email, phone number, delivery and billing addresses, your company name if you give one, and what you ordered.
- When you create an account: your name, email, phone number and a password. The password is stored scrambled (hashed), so nobody can read it, including us. Your account also keeps your saved addresses and past orders.
- When you call or email us: your contact details and anything you choose to tell us about your project.
- When you visit: like any website, the servers that deliver this one see your IP address, your browser and the pages you ask for, and may log them for security and to fix problems.
Orders placed on this site are paid by invoice, so the checkout never asks for card details.
Why we use it
We use it to:
- confirm your order, send your tax invoice and record your payment
- deliver, install or hand over your order, and support you afterwards, including warranty work
- answer your questions and prepare quotes
- run your account, if you have one
- keep this site secure and working
- meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.
We don't sell or rent personal information. If we send you news or offers, you can ask us to stop at any time.
Information held outside Australia
Our online store runs on servers in Australia. Google and Cloudflare may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored hashed, and only the people who need them can see order and customer records. Our systems are kept up to date and backed up.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you, and we will tell the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep order and invoice records for at least 5 years, because Australian tax law requires it. Account details stay until you ask us to close your account. Anything else is deleted once we no longer need it.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. It's free, and we'll reply within 30 days. If you have an account, you can update your details there yourself.
You can also ask us to delete your information. We'll delete what we can, but we have to keep order and tax records for as long as the law requires.
We'll check it's really you before we share or change anything.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, tell us first (see below) and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab) or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when the way we handle personal information changes. The date at the top shows the last update.
